Homeschooling is an ideal educational solution for many
students and their families. It offers the ultimate in
individualized education, and is growing choice for
students all over the world.
Families choose
homeschooling for many reasons, among the most common -
existing school options don't meet their child's
educational needs, religious or cultural choices, or
individual family lifestyles or situations.
Homeschooling offers more freedom for a student to learn
in the way he or she learns best, to pursue individual
passions, and to have more opportunity to explore
fields, hobbies, or responsibilities outside of a
predetermined track.
There are extraordinary resources now available to
homeschoolers, online and "in real life" co-ops,
distance learning from K-12, free resources online or
through the mail, discounted and shared curricula,
school-based resource centers, no family has to go it
alone.
As some of you may know, we took the leap to
homeschooling several years ago, and it has been a
wonderful decision for our family. We will be adding
additional articles and lists of our favorite resources.
If you aren't a homeschooling parent, please still
browse around these pages. Both of our children were in
school at one point, and we took advantage of many
homeschooling forums and articles to think about how to
improve their educational experiences at home and in
their classrooms. Not every one can choose homeschooling
whether because of work situations, personal
preferences, or other issues. You're still the most
influential person in your child's life, and you can
really make a difference.
